Belvilla is a versatile platform offering holiday home rentals across Europe, from cozy cottages for romantic getaways to spacious villas for the whole family. In 2021, during the travel restrictions of the pandemic, social media company WeDigital hired me to create visuals for a campaign that brought the holiday cottage experience home, offering a sense of escapism when travel was limited.
We developed an advent calendar campaign for Belvilla’s social media, unveiling a new door each day from December 1st to 24th, with prizes ranging from coupons and discounts to small tokens of appreciation. I sourced 3D models of doors and Christmas elements and began designing the visuals. Midway, feeling constrained by realism, I shifted focus and started to infuse some surrealism. This approach transformed the project into a visually rich advent calendar that I am immensely proud of.
The Concept
We conceived the idea for the advent calendar. Starting from the 1st and running through to the 24th of December, we unveiled a series of doors, each containing special surprises for Belvilla's social media followers. Participants had the chance to win various prizes, including coupons, discounts, and small tokens of appreciation.​​​​​​​
I scoured the internet for 3D models of doors and other Christmas-related elements and began the creative process. After designing about 12 of them, I started to feel a bit overwhelmed. To break free from the constraints of physics and logic, I shifted my focus solely to aesthetics. It was during this phase that the entire advent calendar project evolved into something I am immensely proud of.​​​​​​​
